The Ministry of Health is appealing to Vincentians to be mindful of the amount salt and sugar they consume on a daily basis.
Coordinator of Non Communicable Diseases in the Ministry of Health, Beverley Liverpool made this appeal as she revealed that they are continuing to receive positive feedback in relation to the three Salt-Smart Television Jingles which they recently launched.
The Television Health Promotion Campaign forms part of the national strategy to reduce daily salt intake – the campaign theme is “Reduce Salt for a healthier life.”
Mrs. Liverpool said people often complain that food has no taste when it is not overly salt or sweet but she noted that this is healthy food consumption.
She said they are trying to change this mindset among Vincentians but they know that change will take some time.
