The Special Olympians of SVG were the toast last weekend when students of the SVG Community College Technical and Vocational Division attached to the National Sports Council organised a sporting event, in their honour last Sunday at the Calliaqua Playing Field.

The event, a solidarity football fun match between the Special Olympics team and a celebrity team comprised of national footballers, soca artistes and government officials was the brainchild of College interns Shemika Charles and Gary Jr Miller.

Ms Charles said that the event was organized to recognize and raise funds for the National Special Olympics Team.
Alnif Williams, a Special Olympics coach said that the plans going forward is to have the Special Olympic team enter lower division football tournaments and also look forward to starting a Special Olympics summer camp this year.
The match ended with the celebrity team winning 7-4. The event climaxed with raffles and other sweepstakes.
