Farmers in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and across the region are being encouraged to use environmentally friendly chemicals in Agricultural production.
The appeal was made by Emma Doyle, the Technical Advisor to the Grenadines Network of Marine Protected Areas, during the recently held 6th Annual General Meeting of the Seven Marine Protected Areas (MPA’s) on both St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada.
Miss Doyle said anything that is released into the upper watershed areas washes down in the rivers into the sea, and can have a negative impact on marine life.
She appealed to farmers to be mindful of their actions and the chemicals which they use on their farms.
Miss Doyle said the Grenadines Network of Marine Protected Areas will continue to advocate for the protection and conservation of the Marine Environment, but she stressed that everyone has to play a role in ensuring the success of this program.
