The Director of the Environmental Management Department Janeel Miller Findlay has welcomed the launch of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines component of the Japan Caribbean Climate Change Partnership Project.
The project is being carried out by the United Nations Development Programme, through its sub-regional Office for Barbados and the OECS.
Yoko Ebi-sawa, the Project Manager for the Japan Caribbean Climate Change Project in a brief overview of the project, she said that the project is being funded by the government of japan with a total of USD15 million, earmarked for eight Caribbean islands to help with climate change adaptation and mitigation.
The eight countries included in the partnership are : Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica , Saint Lucia , Suriname and St. Vincent and The Grenadines.
