Home owners in the Grenadines will soon be charged an additional fee on their electricity bill for solid waste collection and disposal.
This was disclosed by Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, as he presented the first reading of the Environmental Health Services Bill during the meeting of the house of assembly last Tuesday.
The Central Water and Sewage Authority (CWSA) is at a huge disadvantage as persons in the grenadines are reluctant to pay their solid waste collection and disposal bills, Dr. Gonsalves says.
Additionally, the Prime Minister points out, that with the new legislation, which gives St. Vincent Electricity Services Limited the authority to collect the fees on behalf of the CWSA, home owners have no choice but to pay or their electricity will be disconnected.
