Residents of St. Vincent and the Grenadines who do not currently have house insurance are being strongly advised to consider getting this form of protection, as the 2016 hurricane season approaches.
The advice came from Director of the National Emergency Management organization (NEMO), Howie Prince, when he addressed participants at a Hurricane Readiness Workshop held here last week.
Mr. Prince noted that a family home is a major investment, which must be protected in the event of it being damaged or destroyed by a natural disaster as the Government may not be able to assist.
The Atlantic Hurricane Season runs from June 1st to November 30th each year.
