Police are investigating the shooting death of 27-year-old Hugo Young of Calder Ridge, who was discovered on the property of Delonore Corea at Carapan on Saturday morning, May 14th, with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
According to the Police, hours earlier, Kelroy Richards, a 27-year-old male of Victoria Village, was found by police on a section of Corea’s property with gunshot wounds to the lower part of his body. He was taken to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.
At approximately, 8p.m. on Friday, May 13th, Police says they received a call that 58-year-old Corea had secured his home earlier and had gone out. It is claimed that while he was out he received a telephone call that the lights which he had left on at his home were off.
When Corea got to his home, he reportedly discovered a broken window pane. It is said that when he made checks about his home, a vault that was said to be chained to burglar bars was missing.
It is reported that Corea heard sounds on the outside of his house and when he looked he saw a shape looking like his vault, as well as two male figures. According to the Police, reports indicate that Corea shouted towards the males and one of the men was seen pointing something in his direction. Corea a licensed shot gun holder reportedly opened fire on the men then called the police.
When the police arrived the vault which is said to be owned by Corea was discovered 160 yards from his home. Further checks by the police on the property led to the discovery of Richards, who sustained gunshot wounds to his legs.
Young’s body was discovered approximately 200 yards from Corea’s house. A post-mortem examination will be carried out on Young’s body to determine the cause of death.
Meanwhile….Police says Armos Durrant, a 65-year-old farmer of Lowman’s Windward, was found hanging by his neck from a mango tree at Lowman’s Windward River about 8:30 a.m on Saturday, May 14th
