A Police man who was stabbed to death on the job was laid to rest with A 21-Gun Salute at the Kingstown Cemetery saturday after A stirring tribute from family, friends and hundreds of officers from around the country who came to pay their final respects.
The flag-draped casket of the 25-year-old Giovanni Charles made its way from a funeral home to The New Testament Church Of God Wilson Hill along a route lined by hundreds of saluting officers. Hundreds more stood at attention outside the church before filing inside.
Maverick Joseph, 18 has been arrested and charged with the officer death.
During the service, Charles was remembered as a loving son and a highly intelligent young Christian man driven to pursue a career of service.
Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves noted during his tribute the risks officers face every day.
