The Ministry of Education, Ministry of Tourism, and the Ministry of National Security, as well as the Inland Revenue Department, booked places in the semi-finals of the Public Service 5-A-Side, Small Goal Football Championship after victories in yesterday’s quarter-final matches at the Grammar School Playing Field.
The Ministry of Tourism defeated Customs Department 2-0 with goals by Rodney Small and Julius Barbour.
The Ministry of National Security beat Housing 2-1 after Okieve Andrews and Jeremy Dean scored for the Ministry of National Security, and Asbert George netted for Housing.
Inland Revenue had a 3-0 victory over the Ministry of Economic Planning. Kalique Hunte converted two of the goals, the third was scored by Jovanni Roberts.
It took a penalty shoot-out to decide that match between the Ministry of Education and the St Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard. The scores were level at 1 goal each at the end of regulation time, after Diquan Pierre had scored for the Ministry of Education, and Enos Hamlette had converted for St Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard. The Ministry of Education held their nerves during the penalty shoot-out to come away 1-0 winners in the best of three penalty kicks.
The semi-finals will be played next Wednesday when the Ministry of Education will meet the Ministry of National Security, and the Ministry of Tourism will oppose the Inland Revenue Department.
