The St. Vincent Shipyard Limited and the National Workers Movement (NWM) met on Tuesday 3rd May, in an attempt to settle the impasse relating to the renewal of the Collective Agreement, working conditions and what the union term as “abusive dismissal.”
NWM said the union had declared its dissatisfaction with the way employee Andrew Browne was made redundant by the company.
The Union said at Tuesday’s meeting it was agreed that Mr. Browne would meet with the Manager of St. Vincent Shipyard Limited to discuss the terms of his employment with the company and the way forward.
Additionally, the Union said it was also agreed that negotiations for a renewed Collective Agreement would commence at 1:30 pm on Tuesday 10th May.
Last month, the Union had threatened industrial action, to press its demands for the outstanding issues to be dealt with
