The 2016 Hairoun Beer Mayreau Regatta gets underway today with a Fishing Competition, which began at about six this morning and ends at three this afternoon.
President of the Mayreau Regatta and Sporting Committee, Linus Thomas Alexander said this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Regatta, which runs up to May 1st.
He said throughout the day, there will also be a traditional cooking competition, and the official opening ceremony in the evening, followed by a games night and after-party.
Mr. Alexander said the activities will continue on Friday with the 5th Annual Lion Fish Derby, a kite flying competition and the first ever Miss Mayreau Regatta Princess Pageant another other activities.
