The need for a more focused Education and Awareness Program on how to respond to volcanic eruptions was one of the issues highlighted by Stakeholders at a workshop which wrapped up last Friday.
The two-day Ash Impact workshop was hosted by the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) to coincide with the 37th anniversary of the Eruption of the La Soufriere Volcano.
Director of NEMO, Howie Prince said the session looked at volcanic contingencies and readiness for the possibility of an eruption of the La Soufriere Volcano.
Mr. Prince said it was unanimously agreed by the working groups that all Agencies need to include volcanic eruption contingency plan in the Emergency Plans.
