Year One Arts, Sciences and General Studies won the Male Title of the 2016 St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College QuickCash/National Lotteries Track and Field Championships at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex last Friday.
They totaled 228 points to dethrone Defending Champions, Year Two Technical and Vocational Studies, with 189.5. Year One Technical and Vocational Studies took third place with 169 points.
Year One Arts, Sciences and General Studies, with 138 points emerged Female Champions. Year Two Arts, Sciences and General Studies took second place with 133 points.
Year One Arts, Sciences and General Studies’ Kerina Hooper with 38 points from victories in the 400-metres, 800-metres and 1500-metres Events emerged the Female Athlete of the Championships.
Kira SCHUB-BERT of Year One Arts, Sciences and General Studies was second with 28 points.
The Title of Male Athlete of the Championships went to Jimeon Hendrickson of Year Two Arts, Sciences and General Studies with his tally of 26 points, following his win of the 200-metres, and second places in the 100-metres and 400-metres Events. Rothwell John of Year One Technical and Vocational Studies was second with 25 points.
Last week Athletics Championships brought a close to the Community College’s 2016 Sports Programme.
However, the French Verandah College’s Cricket team is participating in the on-going National Cricket Championships, and will this year participate in the 2016 Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools Cricket Tournament in Barbados, and the Basketball team will compete in the National Basketball Championships later this month.
