As the dry season continues here, the Forestry Department in the Ministry of Agriculture is urging persons to exercise caution when using fires in open areas.
This word of caution came from Director of Forestry, Fitzgerald Providence during NBC’s face to face programme.
Mr. Providence is reminding persons that uncontrolled fires could cause significant infrastructural damage within communities as well as putting additional strain on the dwindling water resources.
Mr. Providence said fires intended for hunting or agricultural purposes could also result in serious consequences.
