The Heads of Social Security Agencies in CARICOM and will gather here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines next week for a high level training session.
The training will be hosted by the National Insurance Services, NIS, and would focus on the CARICOM Social Security Agreement (CASS).
The NIS says the overall purpose of the training is to provide Member States with the necessary technical capacity to effectively operate the CARICOM Social Security Agreement.
Participants are expected to gain a better understanding of the Social Security Systems; gain knowledge of the Agreement; and understand how to operationalize the Social Security System.
The sessions would be facilitated by Dr. Olivia Smith, the Deputy Program Manager, in charge of Free Movement and Labour, at the CSME Unit; and Sandra Bart, Legal Officer, at the CARICOM Secretariat.
Executive Director of the NIS in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Reginald Thomas, would be one of the co-trainers.
The training is slated for Wednesday March 16th and Thursday 17th at the NIS Conference Room from nine each morning.
