An official of the Police Fire Department has warned members of the public against running towards fires, since they can cause themselves harm and diminish the capacity of Fire Fighters to do their jobs.
The word of caution came from Inspector Curtis Clarke, as he matters relating to fires during NBC Radio’s “On the Beat” programme.
Inspector Clarke said that there are many risk factors involved in firefighting and the untrained civilian can be severely injured at the scene of a fire.
Meanwhile, Sergeant McNeil Ellis is asking that motorists give way to emergency service vehicles that are responding to fires. He said that drivers are reluctant to pull over when fire service vehicles turn on sirens.
