Local Ophthalmologist, Dr. Kenneth Onu, said there are various causes of blindness and other eye-related problems as reported in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Speaking on a recent radio discussion programme, Dr. Onu said while the outcomes are similar in nature, it is important to understand the underlying factors which leads to blindness.
He said there are several environmental and genetic factors which could lead to a loss of vision.
And, Dr. Onu is encouraging persons 40 years of age and older to conduct regular eye examinations.
