The opposition, New Democratic Party (NDP) has filed two election petitions in connection with the December 9th, 2015 General Elections.
The petitions were filed on Wednesday December 30th, 2015, and they come in the wake of a decision by the High Court to turn down an application by the NDP, to gain access to ballot boxes used in the Central Leeward Constituency in the December 9th ,2015 General Election.
That ruling was handed down by High Court Judge, Justice Brian Cottle on Monday December 28th, 2015.
The petitions relate to alleged discrepancies in the Central Leeward and North Windward constituencies, during the December 9th General Elections.
The Petitioner for Central Leeward is Benjamin Exeter, while the Petitioner for North Windward is Lauron Baptiste, both of whom contested in the December 9th General Elections for the NDP.
The Petitioners outlined a number of alleged breaches in applicable laws and elections rules which occurred in relation to the electoral process, and call for the results in these constituencies to be declared void.
