A local health official says the improper refrigeration of leftover foods could result in microbial growth, and subsequently food poisoning.
The advice comes from Community Nutrition Officer in the Ministry of Health, Rosemarie Mucket, during NBC’s Face to Face programme yesterday.
Miss Mucket said while the refrigerator is designed to store foods for long periods, there are several guidelines which must be followed to extend the shelf life of the foods.
Miss Mucket said it is imperative that refrigerated foods be used within a safe period.
