The South Leeward Highway Rehabilitation and Improvement Project has been suspended for the Christmas Holiday and work is scheduled to resume on January 4th.
Community Liaison Officer for the Project, Marlon Stephenson tells NBC News that work on the project continues to progress smoothly.
Mr. Stephenson said before the break took effect yesterday they were focusing on the Chauncey area.
He said there are also a number of areas along the highway which will have to be cordoned off to ensure public safety.
Mr. Stephenson said before the close of work they encountered a number of setbacks in the Grand Gate area and the road is currently single lane.
