As Supporters of the New Democratic Party (NDP) continues to protest what they described as voter irregularities in several constituencies across St. Vincent, specifically in Central Leeward, the office of the Supervisor of Elections is expressing dissatisfaction with the actions taken.
In a news release issued this week, the Supervisor of Elections- Sylvia Findlay-Scrubb said her office wishes to record its profound disappointment with the latest display of disrespect meted out by a small sector of the Vincentian community; which can do irreparable damage to the high regard in which the Vincentian electoral system has been held, since 1951 when the nation conducted its first elections.
The Election Supervisor added that her office is committed to free, fair and transparent elections.
Ms. Findlay said that the electoral office is equally convinced that when all the facts are known, it will be evident that the allegations, which are now being made are based on misinformation, half-truths and untruths.
Following the December 9th 2015 General Elections the NDP has been rallying its supporters to take to the streets of SVG to protest the results of the elections, which the NDP claimed were not free and fair.
