Union Island All-Stars won the Digicel Grenadines Basketball Championship for a 3rd straight year, when they defeated Bequia All-Stars 75-63 in the Final at the Clive Tannis Hard Court in Port Elizabeth Bequia on Saturday night.
Steveon Taylor scored a game high 25 points, 3 rebounds and 4 steals to be the top scorer for Union Island. The leading scorer for Bequia was Kirstin Lampkin with 16 points, 3 rebounds and 4 steals.
In the third place play-off, Canouan Islanders beat Mayreau Kings 105-69. Warrican Myers was Canouan leading scorer with 34 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Rashaun Forde led the way for Mayreau with 22 points and 2 assists.
Union Island defeated Mayreau 82-61 in semi-final “A”. The leading scorer for Union Island was Steveon Taylor with 17 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Damian Forde led the way for Mayreau with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.
And, Bequia won from Canouan 67-65 in semi-final “B”. Kirstin Lampkin was Bequia leading scorer with 16 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 5 steals and 3 blocks. The top scorer for Canouan was Damina Harry with a game high 26 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.
