As the Ministry of Health Wellness and the Environment continues with efforts to control the spread of HIV/AIDS in St. Vincent and Grenadines, infected persons are being reminded that the anti-retroviral treatment is always available free of cost.
Director of the HIV/AIDS and STIs program Ferosa Roache, says it is extremely important that persons go out and get tested and know their HIV status.
Roache says persons who are tested HIV positive will be referred and linked directly to care and treatment, in an effort to limit the chance of that person passing the virus on to another.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines now has some 1,484 recorded cases of HIV/AIDS, with 53 new HIV cases recorded between January and September of this year.
