A total of 38 residents of South Leeward were presented with offer letters for the ownership of lands in the Dubois community.
The handing over ceremony was held yesterday at the Buccament Government School; and the housing lots were offered to residents at 50 cents per square foot.
Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves in his address at the handing over says the opposition New Democratic Party’s proposition is “absurd,” which he says states that if the government helps poor people it will be making them dependent.
And, Former parliamentarian Sir. Louis Straker in his address says he is pleased to be participating in such an exercise that will allow more Vincentians to become property owners.
Additionally, Sir. Louis says he is delighted to be a part of a government that looks out for the poor.
From 2001 to present the government has distributed approximately 4,500 plots of land to citizens of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
