There are now 1,484 cases of HIV/AIDS in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Director of the HIV/AIDS, STIs program in the Ministry of Health, Ferosa Roache, says 53 new HIV cases were recorded here between the period January to September 2015.
Ms. Roache told NBC News that of the 1,484 persons here who have tested positive for HIV, 899 are males, 567 females, while there are 18 persons whose gender is not stated.
Ms. Roache says the 20 to 44 age group that is the one mainly affected by HIV.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines recorded its first HIV case in 1984.
