Local and regional stakeholders have benefited from a one-day orientation workshop hosted yesterday by the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO).
The training, which focused on Strategic Targeting Methodology, was held in collaboration with the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies across the Caribbean, and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency, (CDEMA).
The participants were enlightened on a new process which seeks to identify communities at risk of natural disasters in order to implement Disaster Risk Reduction measures and Climate Change Adaptation actions.
Addressing the event, Director of NEMO, Howie Prince said that while the entire Caribbean is vulnerable to natural disasters, there are some communities which are more susceptible than others.
Mr. Prince said the new system is intended to help Disaster Risk Reduction organisations to implement precise interventions specific to the needs of a vulnerable community.
