Today marked the commencement of a capacity building workshop on the International Human rights system, with special emphasis on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Recommendations.
The three day workshop is aimed at strengthening the participating stakeholders’ knowledge on the UPR, regional human rights mechanisms, and to review and plan joint activities that can contribute to effective implementation of the recommendations received during the 2011 UPR.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Commerce and Information Technology, Nathaniel Williams addressed the stakeholders and said it is important that the member states of the United Nations comply with certain human rights practices.
