“The struggle for independence in the Caribbean is still ongoing”.
Herbert Samuel, founder of Welectricity, Energy Consultant and Entrepreneur, made the statement while delivering the featured address at the Annual Independence Lecture held at the UWI Open Campus last night.
During his address, Samuel questioned whether or not the region and this country have achieved all the things that drove our forefathers to fight to gain independence.
He added, that in order to gain economic independence there are three objectives that must be met.
Samuel said that while all objectives are linked, the fundamental challenge to economic independence, is fixing the practical aspects of political independence.
