The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Diaspora Committee of New York, Inc., has embarked on an initiative to facilitate the creation of a Vincentian Cultural Arts Association in the United States.
A release from the Committee says this is being done to build on previous efforts to facilitate the overall development of the Vincentian diaspora in New York and unite the diaspora with Vincentians at home in SVG
A special meeting on the Vincentian cultural arts in the diaspora in the United States will be organized by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Diaspora Committee of New York, Inc, with a view towards the creation of this Vincentian Cultural Arts Association in the United States,
The meeting will be held on Saturday, October 31, at The Friends of Crown Heights Educational Center, Inc., at 671 Prospect Place in Brooklyn, New York from 4pm-8pm.
The Committee says the meeting is being held to begin the process of creating a Vincentian cultural arts organization in the United States; and to discuss the significance of Vincentian cultural arts and the need to expose and preserve it in the diaspora
The forum will also seek to establish a Diaspora Cultural Arts Organizing Committee to work toward establishing an organization.
This organisation will comprise Vincentian artistes, performers, cultural arts producers, cultural arts managers, cultural arts teachers/academics, cultural arts promoters, DJs, radio, TV and print journalists, photographers, cultural arts business persons, authors and anyone interested in the further development of the Vincentian cultural arts in the United States and in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
