The Ministry of Education says the industrial action planned by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Teachers Union on Tuesday October 13th, 2015, did not cause disruptions to the normal operations of the school system.
The Ministry maintains that data on teachers’ attendance indicate that more than eighty percent of teachers were on duty. While those teachers who were absent, the absence can be attributed to a variety of reasons including illness and teachers having medical or other appointments.
The Ministry adds that the attendance of students in very few schools was below the daily average.
This can be attributed to a variety of reasons which may include the uncertainty which might have been created in the minds of parents who thought that teacher attendance might not have been able to support their children’s comfort at school.
The Ministry of Education is thanking all teachers for their cooperation as they all forge ahead to build the nation.
