The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Co-operative League Limited on Monday October 5th, 2015 presented a cheque for 30-thousand EC dollars to its Dominican counterpart to aid in the country’s storm recovery efforts.
Tropical storm Erika caused flooding and mudslides in Dominica in late August, resulting in at least 20 deaths, and left more than 50 missing.
President of the SVG Co-operative League, Kelvin Pompey, made the presentation during Monday’s launch of a month of activities to observe Cooperative Month 2015, under the theme: People Helping People.
The cheque was handed over to Mr. Aron Dalrymple, the Manager of the Dominica Cooperative League Limited.
Meanwhile, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Co-operative League has been selected to host the 14th Annual OECS Credit Union Summit next year.
This was disclosed by President of the Co-operative League Kelvin Pompey, as he addressed the launch of activities to mark Co-operative Month on Monday.
Mr. Pompey said this is an indication of the pivotal role which the local Credit Union Movement has been playing at the regional level.
Over 300 Co-operators from throughout the OECS are expected to attend the Summit, which is scheduled to take place here in August next year.
