The Ministry of Health is in the process of implementing an initiative to reduce waste of pharmaceutical supplies within the local health sector.
Word of this came from Minister of Health, Clayton Burgin, as he responded to a question in Parliament last week in relation to the procurement of pharmaceutical supplies within the ministry.
Minister Burgin said the initiative will seek to ensure greater availability of medicines as well as reducing the cost of medicines by eliminating wastage.
Minister Burgin said the ministry is also proactive in its efforts to address shortages in the availability of medicines, which are sourced from the OECS Pharmaceutical Procurement Service (OECS/PPS).
