Minister of Culture, Cecil McKie, said the various steel-orchestras throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines continue to receive government subsidies to ensure the continued development of the steelpan art-form.
He spoke on the government’s commitment to the arts while responding to a question during last Monday’s sitting of Parliament.
Minister McKie said the high level of participation in the national panorama championship is the result of the government’s financial support to the art-form.
Minister McKie said the government has also revived other forms of culture since taking office in 2001.
