Chief Executive Officer of the International Airport Development Company (IADC), Dr. Rudy Matthias says a lot of work is currently to ensure that everything is in place for operation at the end of this year.
He made the announcement on Monday September 21, 2015, during the opening session for a three-week Refresher Training Course for Air Traffic Controllers.
Dr. Mathias said the Terminal building is currently being retrofitted with the relevant furniture and other equipment and they expect to have it ready for operations by the middle of October.
Dr. Mathias said work is also continuing on the airfield and during this week work was expected to start on the second phase of the Runway which they expect to have completed no later than mid-November.
He said all of this work is being carried out simultaneously as they carry out a number of other minor work programs at the Airport site
