Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said while the initial costs of operating the Argyle International Airport will be high, the project is expected to significantly enhance the local economy in the long term.
Dr. Gonsalves spoke on the issue while responding to a question on the management of the airport during the sitting of Parliament on Monday September 21, 2015.
Dr. Gonsalves said the government will have to assist in subsidizing the operation of the Argyle International Airport, which is expected to operate at a loss for the first few years. However, the necessary measures will be put in place to ensure efficiency in the airport’s operation.
