Residents on the Grenadine Island of Union Island say they are expecting the Ashton Lagoon Restoration Project to bring significant benefits to their lives.
They made these comments during the official launch of the Ashton Lagoon Restoration Project on Friday September 18, 2015.
The residents say the Ashton Lagoon once played an integral part in the lives of people on Union island.
However, this changed after a failed Mariner Project which had many negative environmental impacts on the area.
The Lagoon is now stagnant, but a major project has been launched by the Sustainable Grenadines Incorporated (SUSGREN) along with other partners to return this area to its former glory.
