Greggs FC defeated defending champions, Spring Village United 3-2 in yesterday’s opening League match, as the 2015 National Lotteries Authority North East Football Championship opened yesterday at the Chili Playing Field in Georgetown.
The opening heard remarks from the President of the North East Association Trevor Huggins, the President of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation, Venold Coombs, the Director of Physical Education and Sports, Nelson Hillocks.
The opening also heard remarks from the Hon Saboto Caesar, who spoke on behalf of Area Representative, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves.
The Championship will be played in four Divisions a Senior Division with 16 Teams, five teams in the Under-13 Division, six teams in the Under-17 Division and two teams in the Women’s Division.
They collected $1,000.00 at the Gate, which will go towards the Dominica relief fund. The monies would be handed over the Red Cross tomorrow.
Tomorrow’s match will between Biabou United and Sparta FC of Diamonds from 4:15 pm also at the Chili Playing Field in Georgetown.
