The first tranche of funds raised from the Radiothon held on Sunday September 6th was transferred to Dominica on Friday September 11th .
Over 50-thousand dollars in pledges were made during the Radiothon, which was spearheaded by NBC Radio, and involved a number of other local Radio Stations, which came together to raise funds for the Dominica Relief Effort.
General Manager of NBC Radio Corletha Oillivierre says so far 31-thousand 239-dollars and 84-cents has been collected, and this has been added to funds remaining in the account.
She said 40-thousand dollars is being transferred by wire directly to the Bank of Dominica, to an Account opened by the Office of Disaster Preparedness there.
A total of 53-thousand 324 dollars was pledged by callers to the programme, which involved eight local radio stations.
The National Emergency Management Organisation NEMO and the local Red Cross Society also provided support for the initiative.
