The growing burden of Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) on this country’s resources was highlighted by Health Officials this week.
The officials met at a session, where the findings of a National Health Survey was presented.
In his address at the event, Minister of Health Clayton Burgin said NCDs are increasingly becoming significant causes of morbidity and mortality in adults here and in other developing countries.
He said urgent action must be taken in some critical areas in order to decrease the burden of Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) on the population of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The survey was designed to get an improved understanding of chronic disease risk factors here in St Vincent and the Grenadines, in an attempt to put measures in place to mitigate the rising scourge of non-communicable diseases.
