The Forestry Department in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry says every effort is being made to curb the transfer of diseases between this country’s forested areas and the general population.
The assurance came from Senior Forestry Supervisor, Cornelius Richards, during the Face to Face programme aired on NBC Radio this morning.
Mr. Richards pointed out that one of the major concerns of the department is the growing number of persons conducting non-forestry activities in the forest reserves throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Mr. Richards is encouraging persons to contact the forestry department before embarking on such activities to minimize the risks to their own safety.
