The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Bee Keepers Association is spearheading efforts to increase local honey production, which has been plagued with a number of challenges in recent years.
Agricultural Officer with responsibility for Bee Keeping, Allan Williams, said honey production declined as a result of the impact of the Chalkbrood fungal disease and the prolonged dry seasons.
Speaking on NBC’s Face to Face programme last week, Mr. Williams said local beekeepers have been implementing a number of measures aimed at strengthening the industry.
