The Ministry of Transport and Works is anticipating that work on the Sandy Bay Coastal Defense Project will commence by January 2016.
Chief Engineer Brent Bailey said the Ministry launched the tender for the project last week and eleven contractors locally, regionally and internationally have all expressed interest in bidding for this project.
He said that the Sandy Bay shoreline was affected significantly by Hurricanes Tomas and Ivan and the Reconstruction project is expected to cost seven million EC Dollars.
Mr. Bailey also stated that the Ministry is also looking at ways to address the issue of coastalerosion between the areas of Fancy to Calliaqua.
