Hawks, Hornets, Rising Stars, East Blazers, Young Wizards and Duke won matches at the weekend in the Vita Malt Bequia Basketball Championships at the Clive Tannis Hard Court.
In the Under-16 Division, Hawks defeated Young Wizards 36-23. The leading scorer for Hawks was Darren John with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, while Mario Tannis led the way for Young Wizards with 8 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists.
Augustine Pollard hit a game high 24 points 2 steals and one block as Hornets eased past Titans 40-31. The leading scorer for Titans was Kelroy Durham with 21 points, 18 rebounds, 1 assist.
And, Young Wizards eased past Hawks 23-21. Leading the way for Young Wizards was Mario Tannis with 10 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist. The top scorer for Hawks was Tre Gregg with 11 points, 3 rebounds and one assist.
In the second Division, Rising Stars had the better of Wizards (2) 115-60. The top scorer for Rising Stars was Reon Ollivierre with a game high 32 points, 16 rebounds, 4 steals, 4 blocks. Shion Farrell was the top scorer for Wizards (2) with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 stalls and one block.
In the First Division, East Blazers defeated Duke 83-69. Leading the way for East Blazers was Stevorn Taylor with 26 points and 5 assists. The top scorer for Duke was Jonas King with 27 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block.
East Blazers won their second match defeating Wizards 73-64. The leading scorer for East Blazers was Stevorn Taylor with 20 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals, while Delwain Simmons was the leading scorer with 19 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals.
Duke defeated The Generals 45-33. The leading scorer was Ishama McCree with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal. Ben Andrews was The Generals leading scorer Generals with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals
The Championship will continue this evening with matches in the Under-16 tie breaker to determine 1st and 4th place.
