The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Red Cross Society will host the launch of a new Disaster Risk Reduction Program next week.
The program entitled “Community Resilience and Institutional Preparedness in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Lesser Antilles facing Natural Hazards”
Director General of the Red Cross Headquarters Bernard Marksman says the program will be implemented in collaboration with NEMO and other Agencies.
He said the expected outcome of the program is to support six communities at risk of either flooding or volcanic activity with disaster risk reduction programs.
Mr. Marksman says it is anticipated that some 10-thousand individuals will benefit from the project, which is funded under the tenth DIPECHO Action Plan for the Caribbean.
The program will be officially launched next Thursday August 20th at the NIS Conference Facility at 9am.
