Hawks, Titans, Hornets, Rockets, Blazing Heat and East Blazers won weekend matches in the Vita Malt Bequia Basketball Championships at the Clive Tannis Hard Court in Port Elizabeth.
In the Under-16 Division, Trey Gregg scored a game high 24 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals as Hawks edged out Dragons 36-18. The leading scorer for Dragons was Jada Peers with 10 points and 5 rebounds.
Titans had the better of Rockets 36-31. The top scorer for Titans was Kelroy Durham with 18 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist. Teddy Isaacs was the leading scorer for Rockets with 17 points, 4 steals.
Hornets defeated Rockets 24-22. Leading the way for Hornets was Shar Benn with 13 points, 13 rebounds. The top scorer for Rockets was Omario Louie with 10 points.
And, Rockets beat Young Wizards 72-27 in their second match. The leading scorer for Rockets was Omario Louie with 12 points, 5 steals and Mario Tannis led the way for Young Wizards with 10 points, 12 rebounds.
In the second Division, Blazing Heat won from Wizards 75-34. The top scorer for Blazing Heat was Vernell Phillips with a game high 28 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists. Shian Farrell with 10 points, 2 assists was Wizards’ leading scorer.
And in the First Division, Wizards overcame The Generals 79-47. The top scorer for Wizards was Orlando Blugh with 27 points. The Generals leading scorer was Colin Blugh with 14 points.
And East Blazers defeated Warriaz 76-69. The leading scorers for East Blazers were Kelan Edwards and Cosmus Hackshaw with 19 points each. Julius Kerr led the way for Warriaz with 32 points.
The Championship continues this evening when Rising Stars plays Wizards from 7:30 pm, and at 9:30 pm, Duke will oppose The Generals.
