The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force destroyed a quantity of illicit drugs yesterday with a street value of 25-million, 730-thousand, 4-hundred EC-dollars.
A release from the Police says the exercise took place at Rabacca at about 10:45 yesterday morning.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Reynold Hadaway, said the illicit drugs are for the period January 2010 to July 2015, and were collected from matters that were disposed of by the courts.
He explained that they were seized by various Stations, Units, and the Royal St.Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force Coast Guard.
Some were interdicted at sea from joint sea operations by the Narcotics Unit, the Rapid Response Unit and the Coast Guard. Most of the illegal drugs were seized on land.
According to DCP Hadaway, 12-thousand, 194.80 pounds of cannabis or 5-million 188-thousand 279 grams with a street value of 18-million, 292-thousand 200.00 EC-dollars were destroyed along with 228 grams of cannabis plants with a street value 5-thousand EC-dollars.
Police also destroyed 130.7 pounds of cocaine (59, 341 grams) with a street value of 7-million, 432-thousand, 450-EC dollars, as well as 50 grams of cocaine rocks with a street value of 750-EC dollars
