A Vincentian cancer survivor has created “Gardner’s House”, a non-profit organization that aims to remove the hospital and hospice atmosphere in treatment centres, and provide support to the families of, and people diagnosed with cancer.
Maggie Gardener while on NBC radio’s “On the Beat” programme, said that the idea was born out of her own experience with cancer. She said that Gardener’s House was created to help families of/ and cancer patients, find resources, information and just to be a source of comfort at all stages.
Gardener says that her organization has helped many people since its inception. She expressed an interest in forming alliances with partners here in order to better facilitate local cancer patients and their families.
