The Ministry of Health Wellness and the Environment hosted a one-day consultation here last week, to revise the National Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Manual of 2000.
A multi-disciplinary team within the Ministry of Health was established in order to create the National Tuberculosis Co-ordinating Committee.
This Committee is responsible for guiding the Tuberculosis Programme of activities in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and has adopted the Caribbean Guidelines for the Prevention, Treatment, Care and Control of Tuberculosis and TB/HIV.
Addressing the opening of the Forum, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Luis Deshong said Tuberculosis remains a serious threat to the Health Sector.
Mr. Deshong said the Revised Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Manual will be made available to all Health Professionals.
