As preparations continue for upcoming General Elections, the Electoral Office is reminding Vincentians that Monday, 27th July marks the conclusion of the 30-day period provided for in the Representation of the People (Amendment) Act 2015 for Voters to update their voter registration and avoid being excluded from the next Voters’ List to be published by the Electoral Office.
A release from the Electoral Office says the Supervisor of Elections has, however, advised the Registering Officers that registration should be done on Wednesday, 29th July to cater for persons who could not be accommodated on Monday, 27th July.
Additionally, the Electoral Office located on Bay Street, Kingstown will continue to complement the efforts of the Registering Officers until Friday, 31st July.
During the month of August, the Electoral Office will focus on the preparation and publication of the Voters’ List.
Voters will be expected to scrutinize the Lists and to report any discrepancies to the Supervisor of Elections or to the Registering Officers who will still be available in their respective constituencies. Consequently, there will be NO registration in the constituencies from 3rd August to 4th September, 2015.
The Electoral Office will provide emergency services to the public during this period, including the distribution of National Identification Cards.
Voter registration in all fifteen (15) constituencies will resume on Monday, 7th September, 2015.
I am a national living abroad and would like to participate in democratic process in the upcoming elections. However, I am not sure if I am still registered, in the event that my name was removed from the old list, can you advice how do I become re-registered and be eligible to vote?
