The Geothermal Plant will not bring a lot of employment to this country, but there are many potential benefits that can come about from its construction.
Peter Williams, representative of Emera Caribbean Limited, said that residents on the Windward side of the island will be informed as to when equipment will be transported, because most of it is large and will be moved on the Windward Highway.
Meanwhile Dr. Jerrol Thompson, explained the potential run off benefits of having a geothermal plant here. He said that Sulphur springs could not only be a boost to tourism, but medically the minerals in the water could aid in ridding people of illnesses like psoriasis. He added that the agricultural sector could also benefit greatly.
Williams added, that job creation will be minimal but there will be work for local contractors in the building stage.
